Halmstad Arena
Monday to Sunday, all year round, there are reasons to visit Halmstad Arena. It offers everything from sports events, swimming, ice skating and training venues to concerts and fairs.
At Halmstad Arena, the total sports area is the greatest in the whole of Sweden. The arena has four large sports halls. Hall A is the largest. It has mobile grandstands with seating for up to 4,500 spectators. There are also five smaller, special halls, two ice halls and a small ice rink. Thus, there is every opportunity for a wide range of sporting events.
Table tennis, handball, ice hockey, volleyball and futsal are just some of the sports played at the arena. Hylte/Halmstad Volley, Halmstad BTK, HK Drott and Halmstad Hammers are a few of the teams to play their home matches here. In 2018, Halmstad Arena hosted Halland’s largest ever event, the 2018 world table tennis team championship.
Events
Halmstad Arena is so much more than just sports events. It hosts everything from major concerts and exhibitions to fairs and conferences. Melodifestivalen (which determines Sweden’s Eurovision Song Contest entry), Roxette, Jungle Book (the musical), the Home Fair and Titanic – the Exhibition are just five of the events to have come here. Check our events calendar for upcoming events.
Halmstad Arena Lido
Halmstad Arena Lido is one of southern Sweden’s largest adventure pool complexes. Here, children can easily work off their excess energy in fun ways. There are two water slides, a whitewater run, water course, bubble pool, current flume and diving tower. Adjacent to these, there are separate exercise and activity pools. Inside the lido, just in case you get hungry, there is a café.
Skate park
Just outside Halmstad Arena Lido, there is the popular and excellent Halmstad Arena Skate Park. Its 2,000 square metres of concrete cater for both street and bowl skaters. This is a skate park for all – young, old, newbies and the experienced. The park is also open for more than just skateboard. At certain times, kickbike, inlines and BMX use the facilities too.
The skate park is additionally home to the Halmstad Wall. Everyone is welcome to paint their own works of art on our wall!
Halmstad Sports Museum
If you are interested in local sports history, Halmstad Sports Museum is well worth a visit. Sports equipment and the trophies won by sports associations are dotted around this arena. Examples include Rolf Petersson’s Golden Paddle, Laxbuggarna’s world championship cup and the Palmska Shield for orienteering. The large exhibition room is in section D on the first floor. In the “Blomska Room” in hall A, you will find a complete sports library.
Wall of Fame
Halmstad is a successful sporting city and, over the years, has nurtured many excellent sportspeople. Halmstad sports profiles are celebrated on Halmstad Arena’s Wall of Fame. These ambassadors have contributed to putting Halmstad on the map of world sport.
Art at the arena
As is well-known, art and sport go hand in hand. This applies not least to Halmstad Arena. Here, you can experience public art by, amongst others, Erik Krikortz, Sven Jonson and Walter Bengtsson. Fifteen female Halmstad artists have works with a football theme on display. These artworks were produced for the 2013 European women’s football championship. Bring along a spray can and adorn the Halmstad Wall. Everyone is welcome to add their works of art here! The wall is at the skate park.
Public skating
In the public skating sessions, the training ice at Halmstad Arena can be used by all skaters. The ice is open every day throughout the ice season. This is normally from sometime in September up until March.
Athletics and football
At the Halmstad Arena complex, there are several football pitches and even an athletics ground. The pitches are used for, amongst other things, a number of football camps in the summer.
