Skallen Haverdal

The sharp profile of Skallen mountain is a remnant from the quarrying carried out in times gone by. The shoreline is also characterised by rocks and cliffs. Up at the top, you can enjoy stunning views over the southern Kattegat. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Hallands Väderö in the south and Glommen in the north.

Virsehatt

Virsehatt is Halland's first nature reserve. Like a dome over the Sennan valley, the mountain Virsehatt rises 70 meters above sea level. Here you will find enticing paths offering beautiful views, and if you have the energy to climb all the way to the top, you will be greeted by a magnificent view is sure to enhance the taste of your picnic. If you have children with you, don’t miss out on the treasure hunt, where you can look for hidden treasures using a digital map on your phone. And don’t forget to keep a look out for the troll!

Galgberget

Galgberget is a green oasis just a stone’s throw from the centre. Here, history and nature go hand in hand, in the cosy Hallandsgården Open-air Museum and the beautiful beech forest. Set out on a lovely walk along one of the marked paths that criss-cross the entire area. The observation tower looks like it has been taken straight out of a fairy tale, while the area beside Landalasjön lake is ideal for a picnic.

Spritkullen

Halmstad’s most idyllic marina can be found in Grötvik, hidden away in the historic quarry. On a pleasant summer evening, why not take your picnic basket, sit on the rocks and capture the magical light right up until sunset. In the autumn and winter, this is the best place to experience the strong winds causing the waves to crash dramatically against the land.

Danska Fall

Historic location in the beautiful Simlångsdalen valley that attracts many nature-lovers. A 2.4 km trail leads you through exciting scenery and wonderful experiences, the highlight of which is the Danska Fall waterfall, which has a total drop of 36 metres. Sit down for a coffee break beside the roaring rapids, and enjoy the light seeping through the magical leafy canopy of the beech trees.

Gårdshult

The northern part of Gårdshult Nature Reserve External link, opens in new window. in Simlångsdalen valley feels just like going back in time, and gives you a sense of being in an Astrid Lindgren story. Flower-rich hay meadows are interspersed with beautiful roundpole fences, accompanied by the peaceful babbling of the Assman river. Bring your picnic basket and lose yourself among the butterflies and the orchids.

Torvsjön and the island

Cook over an open fire in one of the barbecue areas and lay out a wonderful autumn picnic! Here you can sit either in the large grassy area or at long tables under a roof. Around 100 metres down the slope is Torvsjön lake, where you are allowed to go swimming. If you feel like a walk, there are trails around the lake and up in the forest.

Jansa quay

A short walk from Stenhuggeriet, along Prince Bertil’s Trail, is Jansa quay, Halmstad’s longest jetty. At the far end of the jetty are a number of benches, where you can sit and enjoy the sun and the sea with a cup of coffee in your hand. If you’re really lucky, you might spot a seal. Not far from there is the wonderful, family-friendly playground, Tallvik.

Ivars Kulle

When the golden-yellow rapeseed fields around Ivars Kulle burst into flower, they evoke an almost magical atmosphere. The hill, which is almost 7 metres in height, is a Bronze Age burial mound. It is located on the eastern side of the northern exit, along route 26. From the top of the hill, the view brings to mind a landscape painting that you’ll never forget. Take shelter in the shade under the trees and lay out your coffee and sandwiches.
