Haverdal and Villshärad beach
Together, Haverdal and Villshärad beach forms a three kilometre sandy beach with beautiful tall dunes. Here you can combine a dip in the sea with hikes through different types of countryside in the Haverdal nature reserve.
The Haverdal nature reserve extends along the entire beach. There are lovely footpaths, leading you past scenic countryside and beautiful views. You may see one of the crooked pines, which grows all around the reserve. Some have even started growing in on themselves. The area has rich birdlife featuring, among other things, oystercatchers and the common ringed plover. With luck, you’ll see Sweden’s second-smallest bird, the Eurasian wren, hurrying along the water’s edge like a mouse. To the north, there is Skallen, with its wonderfully polished rocks and a beautiful view of the entire bay above the Haverdal tourist harbour.
It also has one of Scandinavia's tallest sand dunes – the Lynga sand dune. The sand dune extends 36 metres above sea level and narrow, steep steps lead up to the top where there are breathtaking views of the beach forest and the sea.
The beach offers a disabled toilet, outdoor toilet, a volleyball net and also a kiosk that is open in summer. Vilshärad, in the south, is partly monitored by lifeguards and has plenty of services close to the beach.
Nature trails and bridlepaths
The network of paths around the beaches is extensive, and includes a nature trail where you can learn more about the area. Besides footpaths, there is also a bridlepath on which you can ride down to the beach.
Water quality and temperature
On the website of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, during the bathing season you can see the current forecast, with water quality, algae formation and water temperature of the official bathing beaches.
