Restaurants

Two of Halmstad’s restaurants have entered their restaurant list: Pio Matsal & Bar and Söderfamiljen, both with good reason.

Restaurant Fyr

Restaurant Fyr – Congratulations Halmstad!

Masterclass
The owner of Restaurant Fyr External link, opens in new window. in Halmstad is Jacob Holmström, one of Sweden's absolute top chefs. Fyr is a classic restaurant with an à la carte menu, bar service and patio. The ambition is to create one of Sweden's best restaurants and at the same time have a warm and lively atmosphere. The conditions are the best. The restaurant is located on one of the country's finest beaches and as dinner is consumed, the sun slowly sinks into the sea behind the lighthouse on Tylön, which is just outside. It doesn't get much more beautiful than that from a restaurant table.

The menu offers dishes from both land and sea, with the latter in focus. And as the oysters with well-chosen accessories go down, as boiled asparagus with wonderfully crunchy hazelnuts, excellent tartar on tender inner thigh, different varieties of browned and grilled butter sauces and a perfectly cooked haddock are enjoyed, that silly smile of pleasure appears which we usually have when we eat Jacob's food.

Söderfamiljen

Söderfamiljen – Amazingly good food, quite simply

Good class
On the south side of Halmstad, not far from the sea, you’ll find Söderfamiljen (swe) External link, opens in new window.–a small, charming neighborhood bistro with hearty, playful dishes and delicious, quirky pastries. The place is owned by My Djurberg and Johanna Norström, and even more women work in the kitchen and on the floor. Everyone has this effortless, cool, no-nonsense yet knowledgeable attitude. Sitting outside by the slow-flowing Nissan River or inside among the eclectic tables with a bicycle hanging on the wall is equally delightful every time. Honestly, it feels a little like coming home.

Hotel Tylösand – Art, Nordic design and magical sea views

Very good level
You are met by sculptures, magnificent paintings and photographs as soon as you walk in through the entrance of Hotel Tylösand. External link, opens in new window. Per Gessle’s and Björn Nordstrand’s hotel is characterised by art and by austere, stylish, Nordic design. The rooms are well thought out, with comfortable beds, effective lighting and a good work space. From several of the rooms, you can imagine an endless sea and wide horizons. The long, sandy beach invites you to go for a stroll or take a dip. The restaurant – in the summer there are several of them – offers well-cooked food, and the chef is ready to fix an omelette, eggs over-easy or anything else you might want with the generous breakfast buffet. The spa area has a sauna, gym and several pools. Slipping into the well-heated outdoor pool once darkness has fallen and the wind is whining is highly recommended.
