But before you cosy up, set out on a shopping spree in the city and procure everything you need for lazy days in your warm abode.

Drakar & Mazariner
Gather the family around the table and settle in for a traditional board game night. The shop Drakar och Mazariner (Swe) has a wide range of board games, making it the place to go if you’re in the mood to add something new to your collection. Here you will find the popular game series EXIT – The Game, based around the “escape room” concept, in which you work together to solve a problem or mystery. You can also rent games to take home with you – a perfect option if you’re hungry for more options want to try out various different games.
At Karl XI väg 12 you will find Blacklist (Swe), a store packed with vinyl records, collectibles and especially retro games such as Nintendo 8-bit and PlayStation consoles. You’ll also find newer, used games for everything from PS4 to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Don’t miss Halmstad Escape Room (Swe), which recently opened on the same premises!
What would life be without music? At Norra Vägen 5 you will find Musikalen (Swe), a shop which can fulfil all your musical instrument needs. Here you will find products ranging from famous brands such as Gibson, Ibanez and Pearl to handcrafted guitars from Volker Hörauf, made in Traryd. But above all, you’ll encounter a fantastic staff eager to help you find exactly what you are looking for, whether you are a professional or a beginner!
Backlist (Swe) is located at Kungsgatan 20. Here you will find shelves and walls filled with video games and collectibles, but especially with all sorts of music. Browse through crates of vinyl records or finally complete your CD collection with that one disc you never bought. Because music from physical discs just sounds better, doesn’t it?
This cosy little toy store on Köpmansgatan in Halmstad has just about everything – and then some – for the youngest members of your family. The shelves at LekaLyckaLära (Swe) are filled with carefully selected products that all promote play, happiness and learning. One visit and you’ll leave with enough fun activities for the entire winter!
Fika, mat, dryck och ekologiskt
Do you like cookies? Who doesn’t? At Fredsgatan 15 you will find one of Halmstad’s most unique cafés, Damaskus Hus. Here you can buy Syrian cookies and baklava filled with delicious pistachios and lovely honey. If you’ve never tried them before, then this winter it’s high time to take some home to enjoy with your afternoon coffee. Check out the motifs on the walls, too. They are wallpapered with pictures from the owners’ grandfather’s house in Damascus.
The moment you open the door to this historic old shop Köpmansgården on Klammerdammsgatan, you will be greeted by fantastic scents from its extensive range of tea and coffee. Here you can easily fill your pantry with warming drinks for cold winter days. And if you have a hard time choosing between the approximately 200 different teas, go for the Blend of the Month – or ask the experts behind the counter; we did! After all, their hottest yuletide tea tip is the Christmas blend, which is infused with both citrus and lotus.
Halland’s only farm shop can be found at Hantverksgatan 2. Gudagott (Swe) sells beef, pork, lamb and a wide range of 100% farm-made meat and charcuterie delicacies. Get help choosing the right cuts for a wintertime dinner, or pick up a good piece of meat for a tasty slow cooker meal or warming stew.
At Fredsgatan 11 you will find Butik Paletti (Swe), with great products that are kind to both people and the environment. Here you will find natural and organic skin care lines, without unnecessary additives – perfect for a warming shower after a cold winter day! Also check out their top-notch edible delicacies or their fantastic clothes, all manufactured completely without pesticides.
Hobbies, books and puzzles
Are you a creative soul, or have you always dreamt of learning to knit? At Karl XI:s väg 49 you will find Ninas Sybutik (Swe), which has all manner of sewing supplies, from lace and embroidery floss to satin ribbons, elastics and sewing baskets, to plentiful yarn shelves crammed with lots of different kinds of wool yarn – alpaca yarn, cotton yarn and much, much more!
Zaras Färg & Duk
Give yourself a challenge this winter – spend a rainy day or two (or more!) exploring your creative side. At Zaras Färg och Duk (Swe), in the corner of the old Norra Station, you will find artistic material for all ages, whether you are an amateur or a well-established artist. Don't know where to start? Zara will be happy to help you with inspiration and ideas. She even has a wealth of tips on how to get kids involved in the creative process!
At the local bookstore on Storgatan in downtown Halmstad, you can both browse the bookshelves and find puzzles of different difficulty levels. Puzzles are the perfect wintertime activity – both relaxing and challenging at the same time. Is there anything better than a good book on a chilly winter’s day? Halmstad’s only used bookshop is located at Viktoriagatan 5. In this charming locale you will find books stacked in piles, placed on tables, and crammed into shelves that stretch all the way up to the ceiling. Make sure to allot plenty of time, because you can easily spend several hours here, browsing the fantastic selection of books!
